Semana Santa - Guatemalan Culture
The Semana Santa in Guatemala is celebrated with the outing into the streets of manifestations of faith, called processions, usually organized by a brotherhood, currently called passion associations. In each Holy Week procession there are processional platforms and steps, which are usually religious images of the Passion of Christ, or Marian images, although there are exceptions such as allegorical steps or those of saints. The cones or chargers with their corresponding insignia also appear. Penitents participate in the processions, who usually wear conical caps, which are called cones, from which the name of the porters is derived.
